INTRODUCTION TO QURAN (PART-11):

THE QUR'AN DIFFERS FROM OTHER BOOKS:

What is the difference between the Qur'an and ordinary books? There is a book, in which a discussion is completed in each chapter. In the next chapter, there will be no more talk of the previous chapter. That thing will go on now. There will be chapters, the chapters will go on according to the article. This is an essential attribute of the book.

The Quran is not a book in this sense. The story of Adam and Iblis comes in seven places. Coming again and again. In Surah Al-Baqarah, In Surah Al-A'raf, In Surah Al-Hijr, In Surah Bani Isra'il, In Surah Al-Kahf, In Surah Ta Ha, In Surah Sa. The story of Prophet Moses (peace be upon him) has been repeated many times.

So the Qur'an does not meet the category of the book and its definition. What is the standard of a book in the world, what is its general style, what is its definition, There is a form of "collection of advocacy" that is not even. In this, each Makala has a complete discussion in its place. But it will be different from other conversations. This combination is not even advocacy.

Its style is that of a sermon. Oration This is a collection of sermons of Allah Almighty Sermons were revealed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) at different times and it should be noted that there were only two well-known literary genres in Arabia. Either poet, or sermon. When it was not in the style of poetry, it was the style of sermon that Allah adopted. And the sermon that was revealed on every occasion, at every stage, due to the circumstances of that time, is a surah. So, this is "Collection of Devine Oration".

But it is also important to note that there are a few consequences. In the sermon a co-ordination between the addressee and the listener is very important. An author is sitting and writing a book, no one is in front of him, he is writing whatever he thinks in his delight. In the sermon the listeners are in front. If there is no connection between them then that sermon will be ineffective. The people who are there will not stay focused. Second, an essential attribute of this sermon is that there is an incidental background behind it. There is a person who is making a political speech. There is a special background in which he will refer to these things only. He will not give any details because People knows it. Event of the present age is in the knowledge of the people. But if you write in a book, you have to tell the whole story When and how it happened that I am referring to. The inner background of the sermon is that which exists and only the hints regarding it will be directed towards it.

Number three is that there is a lot of Changing address in the sermon. What is meant by Changing address? The Khatib is addressing you, somewhere he is addressing you, then somewhere he will address a person who will not even be present in this Gathering. So, it is necessary to note the Changing address, who was talking now, who is talking now? As you can see in the Quran, one of the verses addresses Muhammad (peace be upon him). The next verse addresses the disbelievers. The next verse addresses the believers. So, what happens when a speech is made, you have to note, where is the direction of this verse at the moment, who is being addressed in it.

The fourth thing is that the sermon not only appeals to the intellect but also to the emotions. That is why it is called rhetorical style. The rhetoric also appeals to people's emotions. When you are writing a dissertation, it is not a matter of emotions. Cool Cool rational things, Arguments, draw conclusions and put them in front of people. It is authored. But inside the sermon there will be appeal not only to the intellect but also to the emotions. Now, all these attributes that I am describing are present in the Qur'an.

Number five, in this sermon, this thing is probably common in the sermon as well as in the ghazal and also in the poem. The first and the last should be very well-dressed and well-groomed. Everyone will read that ghazal which will have a good start and if the start is bad then the rest of the poem will not be read, even if it is a very good poem. Then the last part of poetry. So same thing in the poem as well as in the sermon.

One last thing is that in the sermon there will always be a main speaker who has one thing in front of him, I have to explain this, I have to put it in the minds of my listeners. Someone will tell a story, someone will read poetry, someone will tell a joke. The best preachers we had were "Harari" preachers.

You may have heard Maulana Ataullah Shah Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him). People used to listen to his speech for six hours. Sometimes people were crying, sometimes they were laughing, the common man was thinking what they are talking about here and there. But when the last speech was done, when the speech was over What he wanted to put in people's mind, he wanted to take in people's heart That thing had landed in people's hearts,
